First Canoe Ride
Well it is 10pm now and i am exhausted!!!! but i can say it was worth it…yes i rode a canoe this evening and the experience was undescribable!!!! of course, i didnt go alone. maricel, aaron and alain (ate nen’s husband) was with me in the canoe. the weather was just right. as aaron would say, "not too cold, not too hot." we wore our life jackets as we were afraid the canoe might tip over, but it didnt. actually i was more nervous for the cameras that we brought than us falling down the water because we wont drown with our life jackets on (bad me huh?). but the cameras, well, we might not be able to use it anymore once it touches the water. it was a nice ride though. the river was so calm. the water was shallow on some parts. and the most exciting part is seeing the eagles fly to and fro their nests up in the trees. i saw four eagles to be exact. gud thing alain brought his binoculars that’s why i was able to see them up close. they were so big. the wing span was so wide. too bad we didnt see them fish. i guess we frightened them away, huhuhuhuhu!!! we did stop ashore, trying to find eagle feathers but we found nothing. last but not the least, seeing beavers and their nests in the river banks were fantastic! our canoe went maybe a foot from a beaver sticking just his head out swimming, but he didnt stay up that long. seeing us led to his dive down the water. it was just today that i happen to know that beavers wag their tails in the water producing a small splash to warn the others (beavers of course) that invaders (people of course) are coming. it is amazing how animals communicate huh!!! and another thing, adult eagles’ head is color white, whereas the young is black. (bobo ko ngayon ko lang nalaman lahat yan, hahahahaha!!!!)
well so much for this day! all i can say that it was such a nice experience. maybe we will go canoeing next time again as alain does this almost every weekend especially nowadays because it’s still summertime. and next time we wont take aaron anymore, as aaron was so noisy, scaring the beavers away, hehehehehe!!!!!
